sewing: antalya dress by willow & co.

antayla1_11Theme sewing doesn’t typically happen around here.  Not because my girls wouldn’t want some pink dresses on Valentine’s Day or whatnot, but I’m usually not quite that on top of things.  But I signed up to tour around with Willow & Co and sew the Antalya Dress, and I bought this cheery red white and blue ginghamy type fabric over a year ago in the red tag section of Jo Anns, and what d’ya know, we have a perfectly festive Memorial Day dress for the parades this weekend.

The pattern is such a unique little design, I love the options for pattern mixing and adding piping. Even the bias-bound collar gives you an opportunity to mix things up.  This version is a tad big, my this girl just turned four this month after all, although the way this girl has been eating, I’m thinking a growth spurt might be in the works. (whether it will be up or just out is still to be determined…)

She has been obsessed with her sister’s old Fur Real kitty, so she had to be in the photoshoot too, although I drew the line at making kitty a little dress.  Sorry kitty, I’ve barely got time to sew for myself, you’re going to have to get in line.

These are the little gathers along the side of the dress, they are a pretty sweet detail, right?  And here is the point where I’m running out of words for this post, and the kids are off the bus in ten minutes, so we’re just going to end with some gratuitous photos of Lily and kitty.  Enjoy!

Ahhh, the reward at the end of the photoshoot….Lucky Charms (or, as she calls them, Chucky Charms :)

Adorable!!! She is just too cute, Monica! And I love the dress. The yellow binding and zipper look great against the checks and gray fabric.

AH, SO good! And I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who end up with furry cats in my blog photos….AND who refuse to sew for stuffed animals :-) Your daughter is absolutely adorable!!!

These pictures are so cute! The dress is adorable and so is kitty. In fact, kitty is so cute that she doesn’t need a dress. Have fun on Memorial Day!

She is adorable! I love that gingham. It’d be perfect for the 4th of July too :) My girl just got a fur real panda for her birthday and she’s obsessed with it!

haha! so cute! love that she requested a kitty dress – maybe help her sew a mini skirt out of the dress scraps? think i may have done that with Em around the same age for her elephant. :)
